WOMANS VOLUNTARY SERVICE UNIFORMS.

The Womans Voluntary Services for Air Raid Precautions was officially launched on Jun 18th 1938 with the Dowager Marchioness of Reading in charge, in keeping with their ever extending rolls their name was changed in February 1939 to The Womans Voluntary Services for Civil Defence.


Womans Voluntary Service beret undated, first Introduced on 28 January 1941. Manufactured in dark green felt with a small piece of fabric sticking up in the middle of the crown , unfortunately this one has lost its piece of fabric on the crown but you can still see were it was.

Womans Voluntary Service armband with 4 years service. As the ladies had to pay for their own uniforms and not everybody could afford them or they could not get them when the uniforms were in short supply a new better quality armband was introduced for members without uniforms.
